The Governing Council of the University of Ibadan has approved the appointment of Professor Olamakinde Olapegba, as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor.

The appointment was announced on Wednesday, after the meeting of the governing council presided over by the institution’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Bisi Akande.

This development, makes Olapegba the 14th chief executive of Nigeria’s premier university, which was established 78 years ago.

Before his appointment, Professor Olapegba, is serving as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the institution.

He will succeed the incumbent, Professor Kayode Adebowale, whose tenure expires on October 31.
